JONI + BRETT

I had the awesome honor of photographing Joni and Brett’s engagement photos in my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. While learning about their plans,it was a serendipitous that the wedding was in Kansas City and that they reside in Birmingham!

I was able to shoot their engagement session on my way down to the beach, it was so fun to hang out with them downtown. We also had the unique privilege of shooting at a local Ramen shop in Birmingham — Shu Shop.

Wedding day we reunited in Kansas City at the Bauer. The pastels in the bridal suite were a sweet backdrop for getting ready and for some detail shots. I absolutely love the historic details that the Bauer has kept in the space.

After they were ready, we did their first look in the main ceremony space and then headed down to the streets around to take photos with the bride and groom. They chose not to have a traditional wedding party and to focus on their families during the ceremony and honor all of their friends throughout the day.

After the ceremony, it was on to one of the most glorious dinners. It was full of southern comfort and southern hospitality. After dinner, yummy tables stocked with deserts were opened, cake was cut and they danced the night away.
